Welcome Athens Federal
CapStar is committed to supporting the communities where we live and work. CapStar allocates one third of its marketing budget in Middle Tennessee annually to support community programs administered by local nonprofit agencies. In addition, our CapStar Cares program allows each associate to donate 40 volunteer hours to projects in the community during the work day each year.
Through a mutual to stock conversion in 2009, the Athens Federal Foundation was established by Athens Bancshares Corporation, the holding company for the Athens Federal Community Bank N.A., to provide funding and support for charitable causes within the bank’s East Tennessee market area through annual grants. The gifts the Foundation will present to the East Tennessee community in 2019 are expected to bring its giving total to more than $1,000,000.
Recognizing the importance of the Foundation’s work, CapStar made a commitment to donate $500,000 to the Foundation each year from 2018 through 2020.
Our CapStar Cares program provides our associates with meaningful hands-on volunteer involvement in worthy and inspiring causes. Focusing on a different cause each quarter, the programs benefiting from our employees’ gifts of time and resources in 2018 included BrightStone, Make-a-Wish Foundation, Second Harvest Food Bank and Operation Stand Down. Other activities included Titan Up for Tots; a children’s book drive and hands-on projects with the United Way of Middle Tennessee and the United Way of McMinn and Meigs Counties; and our fifth year of raising funds for cancer research through No Shave November, among others.
