Stephen B. Smith
Stephen B. Smith, a member of CapStar’s board of directors, attended Middle Tennessee State University where he has an accomplished baseball player, winning the Ohio Valley Conference Championship in 1976. He is chairman of the board of Haury & Smith Contractors, one of Nashville’s most experienced homebuilders. Stephen is active in community affairs, serving on the Metro Nashville Planning Commission and the Regional Transit Authority, and was both a member and chairman of the board of directors of Metropolitan Nashville Parks and Recreation. He served on boards for First Union National Bank, Franklin Road Academy, and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati. In 2007, he was awarded the MS Hope Award by the National MS Society Mid South Chapter, and he currently is a member of the MS Society's Board of Directors. Stephen lives on a farm in Williamson County with his wife, the former Denise Stinson, and two children. He raises cattle, standardbred racehorses and Tennessee Walking Horses.
